Learn whether you need to hire an adoption professional and how to get the most help and best service for your dollar. Q. Does it make sense to hire an adoption agency, adoption attorney and an adoption facilitator?
A. This is one area that really confuses people. I have seen people spend thousands of dollars needlessly, simply because they did not understand how each professional worked and how to maximize the services provided by each adoption professional.

The answer to this question varies based on the state you live in. Some states are agency only states, in which case you must use only an adoption agency and if allowed you could also use an adoption facilitator. Some states allow for the use of adoption agency, attorney and facilitator, but that does not mean you need to retain all three to successfully adopt. During the initial coaching session we will explore the available options and make recommendations on what services you should pay for. These recommendations will be based on your state of residence and your adoption goals.

Q. There are several books on domestic adoption available, what can the initial coaching session offer that I can not get from a book?
A. I personally have reviewed most every adoption book available. Many of the books on the market are outdated. Some of these books offer some good basic tips on adoption. They are educational in that they provide names of adoption professionals, information on types of adoptions available, brief overviews on adoption laws and some other general adoption information.

The adoption coach gives you practical working knowledge on how to successfully adopt. The information you receive will be specific to you and your adoption goals, not generic information. The initial coaching session is designed to put you on the adoption fast track.

Q. Is it unrealistic to think I can sign up with an adoption agency, and be guided through the entire adoption process?
A. In some cases you can find adoption agencies who will handle every aspect of your adoption. You must do your research and understand that most licensed agencies will provide you with the home study, adoption support, counseling services and legal services. Most agencies do not have aggressive nationwide birth parent outreach programs, and they do not direct you on how to successfully locate a birth mother. As a result they may lead you to believe that it is nearly impossible to adopt a domestic newborn in a short time. Many agencies quote waits of anywhere from three to five years or they encourage their clients to consider international adoption.

There are a handful of agencies in the country who do offer full service programs including aggressive birth parent outreach. These agencies often charge very high fees. These fees can be worth every penny.

The Infant Adoption Coach can direct you to the right agency. We can also give you ideas and suggestions on how to get all of the services you need at reduced fees.

If you are single, older, gay or lesbian and want to adopt, you face special challenges. Your initial session with the Infant Adoption coach will provide you with tips to succeed.Q. We are planning on doing an independent adoption, using an adoption attorney, how can we be sure we work with someone who will offer us the utmost protection?
A. When planning an independent adoption hiring the right adoption attorney is critical. You do not ever want to take a chance of having your adoption at risk due to a legal oversight. It is important to hire an attorney who specializes in adoptions, and to fully understand what services the attorney will provide. The Infant Adoption Coach can lead you to a reputable attorney in your area.

Q. We are considering doing our own adoption advertising, should we make it more personal by screening our own calls?
A. Advertising on your own can lead to adoption success. Answering and screening your own Birth Mother calls can also lead to unnecessary adoption stress. Many people have contacted me at the end of their rope from screening calls that turned out to be nothing or worse yet that turned out to be a scam. The adoption process is hard enough and screening your own calls makes it even harder. Having your calls prescreened can save you a lot of unnecessary heartache.
